Toy Tuesday

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

So not only did I get an amazing piece of art on my arm yesterday but I also left with gifts. Apparently my tattoo artist’s boy created THE dunny and munny. What are the odds?

Alex, you’re the man!!

Toys & Tattoos, great conversation pieces.

If anyone knows who the artist(s) are of these toys please let me know. Thanks!!

My actual Con Ed bill for August 2009.

Now that is it officially Fall (yay!) I think it is safe to say I went the whole summer without the AC.

I know what your thinking… “that’s your problem!” haha. And it was.

I usually can’t sleep when its hot but being on funemployement I needed to cut where I could.
So on top of being frugal I did my part by conserving energy. Holler. I had 2 fans pumping. It took me till August to figure out how to get an air flow going since all my windows are on the same wall.

The summer wasn’t bad at all but I have welcoming arms opened to my long lost pal Fall. We go way back.

Meet Miss Bee. (more…)

I like my tush in lace.

Friday, September 18th, 2009

This lace chair is from Property Furniture located on Wooster Street in NY. The chair has lace inside a fiberglass shell with frame in steel chrome. Yum. BUT its priced at $930. eeeekkkkk!!

Hopefully Ikea will make a knock off.

Something you may not know about my other half is that he has expensive taste in furniture. When we walk through Ikea he will point out all the knock offs in both furniture and lighting and tell me who the original artist is. I have learned so much about furniture from him. He  owns an original 1959 Eames fiberglass Side Chair with the eiffel tower bottom,  an Eames fiberglass Rocker (the chair is original, the rocker is not) and a 1940’s original Good Form Aluminum Naval Chair.

So after writing all that I don’t even know if he would let me bring a knock off chair in. haha.

Tim Burton is coming to MOMA.

Friday, September 18th, 2009

And are we HYPED!!! The exhibit starts Nov. 22 and is running through April 26.

Tim Burton is a genius. I fell in love with his work at an early age of 7 when Beetlejuice came out and I watched it continuously. I’ll still watch it every single time it comes on Television.

The exhibit sounds incredible and makes me so excited that November is just around the corner which is also my birthday month! Holler!

They are going to exhibit from his early childhood drawings through his mature work in film. The exhibit will include more than 700 pieces: paintings, drawings, storyboards, maquettes, puppets and other work created or designed by Burton.

Costumes from 5 of his films will be displayed along with a collectible figure series titled Tim Burton’s Tragic Toys for Girls and Boys. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!! You know I collect toys.

Not only will they be showing 14 of his films (which I have seen almost all of em) but they will also be showing the movies that influenced, inspired and intrigued Mr. Burton.

I can’t contain myself. Just another reason why I love living in New York.

Jimmy Choo x H&M

Friday, September 18th, 2009

On November 14th H&M will be releasing their collaboration with Jimmy Choo for both women and men. it will hit 200 stores worldwide. The boots you see above price at $345. Would you be interested in purchasing anything from this line or would you just wait until you see the real things on sale or at Marshals? What advise would Ms. Bradshaw give?

What would Richie Rich think?

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Gothamist said it best “A church becomes a nightclub, a nightclub becomes a store, NYC becomes Disney World, and so on.”

YES, you read it correctly the Limelight is turning into a “mall” with approximately 50 stores to open before the holidays. Shopping in a church can’t be as creepy as eating ecstasy pills in one. I wonder what Richie Rich would think. Maybe he can open a store there? Oh the irony.

I hated the limelight. It was thin and tall and to walk from room to room it felt like a rollercoaster line at Great Adventure.

Let’s have one last dance, for good ol’ times.

My GBF took me to see ‘The September Issue‘ tonight and it was amazing. So inspiring. Too bad I only stay inspired for the travels home. Sometimes it may last a little over a week but thats a mild case of obsession.

Now Anna Wintour is definitely the HBIC but Grace Coddington is also a big part of the Vogue brand. She started as a model and after a bad car accident and several plastic surgeries in the eye area she left modeling and became an editor in London for 20 years and then started working for US Vogue the same day Wintour did in the 80’s.

Young Coddington

In the September 2007 issue all but 1 fashion spread was Coddington’s vision. She is a phenomenal creative director.  She has so much passion for what she does and it shows all over her shoots. Down to using the camera crew for the last spread needed to complete the issue.

Grace Coddington spoke to me, loudly. PLUS her office decor includes the Chanel x Be@rbrick. She’s that bitch.

C.O.P. is a ladies arts and culture magazine featuring burner chicks from all walks of life, These fabulous ladies are based out of Australia. For their second issue and moving forward they have officially gone international and I am so happy they did. I was asked to be featured in this December issue as a graff writer and I happily accepted.

In the beginning it was hard to keep up with my alter egos, one always got neglected but I have come to terms with them being one in the same. The 2 will always be associated together, kinda like almond joy and mounds.

Keep up with C.O.P via here and here.

As I was walking out of the theater today after seeing 9 I saw a movie poster for one of my all time favorite movies.

This One Night Event will take place in over 440 movie theaters nationwide on Wednesday, September 23rd at 7:00 p.m. (local time). In addition to the feature presentation of The Wizard of Oz, this exclusive event will include a special introduction by Robert Osborne, a classic film historian and host of Turner Classic Movies, followed by “To Oz! The Making of a Classic,” a look into how L. Frank Baum’s classic novel was transformed into one of the most beloved films of all time including archival interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and rare musical outtakes. Also featured will be an exclusive clip of the Scarecrow, Ray Bolger, dancing in High-definition for the very first time.

Check here for a list of participating theaters.

You KNOW I got my tickets!!

Here we are 8 years later and nothing resolved. We’re still fighting a war that can’t be won and still building the new towers that seem as if they will never be finished. Where is the memorial grounds for all the people we have lost?

The USA and NY came together when we were in straight fear to say fight! fight! fight! But after 8 years with no resolution how come we don’t come together to say change! change! change!

I use to think ignorance was bliss. I lived a long time feeling that way.
But now I live a life of knowledge is power.

Thanks Tim Heyne for sharing the video.

turns out roxanne shante didnt accomplish many of the things she claimed in that daily news story.

an investigative report done by some dude at slate.com came through with these facts:

* According to Warner, neither it nor any of its subsidiary record labels ever had a contract with Shanté, and it was not obligated to pay for her education. Indeed, there’s no evidence that it ever did.
* Shanté—real name Lolita Shanté Gooden—doesn’t have a Ph.D. from Cornell or anywhere else. Indeed, she admitted it in an interview with Slate. And Cornell has no record of Gooden (or “Shanté”) ever attending or receiving a degree.
* According to Marymount Manhattan College records, Shanté enrolled there but dropped out less than four months later without ever earning a degree.
* New York state records indicate that no one named Lolita Gooden or Roxanne Shanté is licensed to practice psychology or any related field.

everybodys got a hustle, but daaaaaamn son. why you had to play me like that?
